Electronic sports (eSports) are a set of video games that are played competitively according to rules, either in teams or individually. It is a cultural phenomenon that has caused the transition from simple video game competitions between friends to large video game competitions, which are followed in large sports venues and with a mass of millions of online viewers.
Currently, this sector is experiencing a high level of professionalization, the official teams already have coaches, psychologists and other trainers, as well as heavy investments in infrastructure and advertising.
The figure of the sports psychologist is crucial in this area, as a role within a team, the sports psychologist is the person in charge of evaluating the emotional situation, cognitive processes and behaviors of the players, analyzing how they function, where they can improve, and working with them to achieve this improvement. He is largely responsible for the environment, ensuring that communication is adequate and meeting individual needs so that they are in the best possible situation and can perform at the highest level.
