Session 9: 13.2 Confidence; From Fear to Flow: Mastering the Ballet Mindset

Self-Esteem and Self-Care for Dancers: Building Resilience and Grace from Within

This session addresses the unique challenges dancers face in maintaining their mental and physical wellbeing in a demanding environment. It highlights the critical role of self-esteem and self-care in building resilience, promoting a healthy self-image, and preventing burnout. Attendees will learn practical techniques to balance the pressures of performance with personal needs, fostering a sustainable approach to their craft.

The talk will also explore how nurturing self-compassion and mindfulness can enhance both individual growth and professional longevity, empowering dancers to find strength, grace, and confidence from within.

Ses 7=16.1 Emotional Intelligence in Ballet: Enhancing Connection and Performance

The session  will be a hands-on experience where participants will explore emotions through identification, perception, and dance.

You will gain an understanding of what EI is and how it can be used to enhance both their performance and training.

Key focus areas include recognizing emotions during a performance or in training, and learning techniques to manage these emotions effectively.

The goal is to equip dancers with practical skills to navigate their emotional experiences, fostering personal growth and improved performance.

 

Ses 6: 19.12 Invisible training cycle (3/3):The Dancer’s Body: Understanding Health in Ballet, with Dra. Emilia Perez, Physiatrist and dance medicine and ex Dancer. 

The purpose of this speech is to aware dancers the importance of an adeccuate physical conditioning for dancers, strengh, flexibility, coordination, propioception..and others and how to achive them to improve dance performance, posture and dance movements.

I will also explain the most commons injuries in dancers and why we have them and how to prevent them.

Some are from the dancer itself like a good endehors or technique, others from outside like bad floor, shoes..
Dance with health and you will dance better and a long career.

Ses 5: 10.12: Invisible Training Cycle (2/3): Dance and Dream –Unlocking the Power of Rest for Peak Performance 🌙✨

This session highlights the critical role of sleep in enhancing professional dancers’ well-being and performance. 💤 Quality rest is essential for: 💪 Physical recovery, 🧠 Mental clarity, 💖 Emotional stability. Key topics include:

⚠️ The impact of sleep deprivation: fatigue, reduced coordination, and a higher risk of injuries.

📋 Practical strategies to improve sleep: pre-sleep routines, managing light and technology, and tailored sleep guidelines.

⏰ Understanding circadian rhythms: aligning daily routines with natural energy cycles to maximize performance.

Ses 4: 21.11;  Invisible training cycle (1/3):Fueling Movement: Essential Nutrients for Dancers,with Dra. Andrea de la Garza , Nutricionist and Ballet Dancer.

This comprehensive talk explores the vital role of nutrition and wellness in the lives of professional ballet dancers, focusing on both physical and emotional well-being.

The session will cover some highlights from topics including redefining nutrition in health and performance, nutrients, food groups, common diets, myth busters, supplements, relationship with food, and practical strategies like high performing nutrition for dancers.

This engaging session aims to empower and inspire dancers with actionable insights and sustainable habits to enhance their art and life. 

Ses 2 & 3=31.10 & 07.11 Mindfulness. Cultivating Awareness and Resilience

We explored how mindfulness improves focus, emotional regulation, and resilience, helping athletes manage stress and distractions for more consistent performance. Techniques like mindful breathing, body scans, and visualization boost concentration and mental clarity.

Mindfulness also reduces performance anxiety and supports recovery.
Students are now asked to practice the Centering Technique  as part of their warm-up to stay present in the moment and eventually make it a habit before performing any task.

Ses 1=17.10  Inspiring Excellence: Motivation and Goal setting. 

We emphasized that focusing solely on the outcome can lead to frustration, so it was recommended to focus on the process and personal progress instead.

We learned how to set goals that help maintain high motivation, developing positive and consistent habits in each training session.

Emphasis was placed on perseverance, discipline, and enjoying the journey toward success. We develope the technique of setting SMART goals (specific, measurable, achievable, relevant, and time-bound) to enhance performance.
